checkpoint

From the moment Ru first talked ‘Checkpoint’ in 2001, I was really hooked. It was one evening at ‘Kithu Sevana’. I can’t remember most of the people who were there that night, but I ended up working with some great people like Adam, Dylan (local theatre’s most fired actor),Shanaka, Nimmi, Ryan, Amal and Gihan, Sam, Ravin, Sharmini, Amali, Suren… sorry if I’ve left anyone out.

It’s on again this September, and I’m very happy to be part of the cast again as I haven’t been on stage since 2004.

forewarned is fore-armed

mind adventures will be holding open auditions in september for the play chatroom by enda walsh. it was most recently performed at the national theatre in london.

the audition date and venue is yet to be confirmed. if you are interested in auditioning you should memorise 2 dramatic extracts contrasting in mood and manner, which should last no more than 3-4 minutes each. you should also be able to sight read fluently.

please pass this on to anyone you think might also be interested in acting.

home stretch

two days to go before we hit kandy, and things are looking good.

‘lookin thru my earphones’ consists of 7 poems, 1 of which is the 12 minute narrative called ‘errol’s story’ performed by sean amarasekera. masii (mike masilamani) will be performing 3 poems titled ‘vesak’, ‘human arrow’, and ‘untitled’. nimmi has two interpretations of ‘tits’; anushka and ryan will perform ‘fashion tv’. an ensemble of nuzreth, jehan, sarah, yohan, shez, manee and rufaida will perform ‘man on the run’, a still from which made the cover of the british council newsletter. sha sha sha : )

we’re performing at mahaweli reach at 5.30pm on saturday the 8th. come and see us if you’re in town.
