abhina theatre workshop

popular screen and theatre actress anoja weerasinghe’s ‘abhina academy of performing arts’ is importing two very interesting theatre practitioners to conduct workshops on puppetry, mask and ‘object manipulation’. sounds very cool, and i for one, am getting in touch. here be all the details.

‘prof’ comes to town

professor ashley halpe has been in charge of theatre at peradeniya university for i don’t know how long. ever since i were a wee nipper (which means a fair while ago).
his productions are always thoughful, thought-provoking, stylish and uncluttered. his troupe is coming to town with a localised version of shakespeare’s ‘twelfth night’.

‘Chatroom’ re-call audition

first of all, thank you so much to everyone who came to audition at barefoot last saturday. i really enjoyed seeing you perform, and it was great to meet you too.

you are all talented (that’s not a brush-off) and that you should definitely keep up your interest in theatre in any capacity that you can, in order to learn more. i’ve worked backstage, front-of-house, in wardrobe, sound and lighting and i believe it helped me to gain a complete undertsanding of what this game is all about.
